Table Saw Training Syllabus
Types of operations: ripping, cross cutting and dado/rabbets
- No molding blades allowed on the SawStop
- Different blades for each operation or combination blade for ripping & cross cutting
- Do not set water or drink containers on the cast iron table. That causes top to rust. Sweaty hands will also cause the table top to rust.
Explanation of the Sawstop system
Electric charge in the blade gets absorbed by the body activating the stop The blade stops, drops below the table surface and the motor stops all in 5 milliseconds It will activate any time the blade is moving, even when winding down Blade and brake cartridge must be replaced after activation. Will the blade contact the push block? Is there a possibility the part will fall through the throat opening? Will hands be clear of blade for the entire operation? Is there support for the follow through? Either the saw safety guard or riving knife must always be used. Never make a cut without this protection. Floor free of debris to avoid slipping or tripping Unplug before removing throat plate, changing blades or making internal adjustments Don’t raise blade any higher than 3/8” – ½” above work Never freehand saw material. It should always be supported by the crosscut sled, the table and the fence or miter gauge. Remove loose or dangling items before using. Loose jewelry, gloves, hoody strings, wired headset, scarfs. Long hair should be tied back and long sleeves rolled up Never reach for the cutoff piece while the saw blade is moving Don’t pull the piece through the saw Don’t saw warped or twisted wood.
