The Rikon 70-100 Mini Lathe is a 1/2 horsepower, 115 Volt, 6 speed, lathe with a 12" swing over the bed and 16" between Centers.

Always check the speed of the motor before you attach your wood blank. Make sure the speed is appropriate for the size and shape of your blank.

Make sure to disengage the spindle lock before turning on the lathe. Do not over tighten the drive belt; firm but not tight.

When changing speeds make sure the belt is fully seated on both drive wheels.

Ensure that all locks (banjo lock, tool rest lock, tail stock lock, quill lock) are snug before turning on the lathe. Do not HONK down on them as they will bend.

=Routine Maintenance=
After each Use:  Avoid a build-up of wood shavings and dust. Regularly clean all parts of the machine using a soft cloth, brush or compressed air. A general cleaning should be done after every use to avoid future problems and ensure that the machine is in ready condition for its next use.

Keep the lathe bed free of resin and rust. Clean it regularly with a non-flammable solvent, then coat with a light film of dry lubricant spray, or wax, to enhance passage of the tool rest and tailstock on/over the bed.

The lathe’s ball bearings are lifetime lubricated, sealed, and do not need any further care. Keep the drive belt free of oil and grease to prevent slipping on the pulleys.
